A Few things on the go!

At the moment i have a few ideas and parts of my project i am working on and developing…

First is my garment, so far i have developed my first design idea to go with a head piece i created earlier on. I plan to print on the lower skirt of my dress with a same flower print. I quickly created a few illustrations of my ideas…

My garment is inspired by 1920’s box silhouette, with low waistlines. This is my mock garment, making sure all the pattern pieces were ok, and generally a practice at putting together the garment! This is it so far, i still need to make a few adjustments to it then i should be ready to start printing and making the final ones!

The Second concept i am working on is another metal head piece! i have so far printed my leaves pattern on it, i may think about again embellishing it with copper flowers.

My third development to my project is the idea of creating some back/ neck pieces using the technique macrame. I have been working on a few things today, inspired by some more research i have done which is very interesting, and i will be sharing in a post tomorrow!

Development of my Work mid-project!

Whilst Carrying out more research i have also been getting on with more of my knitted pieces. I experimented with making a knitted tube structre to go aound the head, and embelished it with flowers to see how it would look…

This was the development of adding the flowers however i felt compared to the full version (below) less was more effective, and showed my knitting a lot better.

I also experimented with creating a big circular headpiece. I started by making a cardboard template to work with. I then embellished it with synthetic flowers and also included some tissue flowers i made quickly, in the top corner again feeling less was more…

I didnt think the tissue flowers were that effective, so need to think about using abother material like copper possibly. I also didnt like the way the back looked as the flower stems just stuck out the back.

So after some quick design ideas i have decided to try making these three pieces…

1. A neck piece which consists of 5 knitted tubes.

2. An Aluminium headpiece which has a tribal print on it and a small knitted tube weaved into it.

3. A large knitted head piece.
